Lake Road disruptions over the next fortnight

From Wednesday, 18 June, essential remedial work is taking place along several sections of Lake Road, the main access route through the valley, over the next fortnight (except for weekends and public holidays).

The work will improve drainage, slumping and erosion, improving the overall stability of Lake Road for the health and safety of everyone who comes to Zealandia.

This will cause some disruption, and we encourage our visitors and volunteers to factor this into their planning until the work is completed. To avoid the roadworks, take a detour through Valley View or the newly reopened wetlands area.

Here’s what we know so far

• The three areas are: near Allision Memorial Track, near the Pontoon Lookout, and where the green bollards are just near Morning Star Track.

• It will be noisy at times during the day with a digger and piledriver in action.

• There may be Stop/Go signs at times, so please observe these as well as any safety signage and barriers.

• Depending on the work that needs to be done, you may be able to pass the digger on Lake Road (including with prams and mobility scooters).

• IF Zealandia needs to be closed for a day or two, we will keep you up to date in the pinned updates post on our Facebook Page.

And a quick update on the closed toilet block in the valley: we are still working with plumbing experts to fix the issue as soon as possible, but there is no firm date for reopening. We apologise for the inconvenience and will keep you up to date with the progress.
